Bradford’s Kevin Firth enjoyed an excellent week of snooker at Pontins in Prestatyn, where he made his debut for the England Masters side at the Home Internationals.
He joined seasoned internationals Steve Judd and Dave Brown, helping England whitewash Wales A 5-0 and beat Wales B 5-1.
A closer encounter ensued against Scotland B, but England came through 5-3, and Ireland were seen off by the same score.
They finished in style with a 5-1 thumping of Scotland A to clinch the championship.
Firth enjoyed the experience and looks to have cemented his place alongside Judd and Brown for the foreseeable future in the England side.
Defending Yorkshire Inter District League Division One champions Bradford No 1 enjoyed a good pre-season warm-up match against Huddersfield, with a new-look side winning 6-0 at Undercliffe Cricket Club.
Damian Wilks soon found his form against Hayden Corbett, winning the first frame 64-32, then making a break of 46 to win the second 101-7.
Team captain Firth was in top form and made a 36 break to win his first frame 104-25, after which a 53 break secured a 75-16 success.
Returning after a two-year absence, Mark Slater slotted straight back into the groove and beat Huddersfield captain Andy Batty 82-31 and 52-41, both frames being keenly contested.
The performance and the result will give the side much needed confidence ahead of their opening league fixture against Leeds on Sunday, October 9, again at Undercliffe.
In a recent Leeds Pro-Am, Wilks came from 2-0 down in his first match to win 3-2, making breaks of 50 and 46 along the way, then easing through the competition to the final where main tour professional David Grace provided tough opposition.
Despite winning the first frame with the help of a 59 break, Grace made breaks of 44, 62 and 68 to win 3-1.
