Brighouse Sports headed 12 county champions to win the British Parks Senior Club Knockout event played on greens in the Rochdale area.

The Yorkshire Parks representatives beat Chesterfield MW by 51 points in the quarter-finals, after having the first eight winners.

They then also got the better of Higher Tranmere by a much closer 17 points in the last four.

Brighouse were up against Sheffield side Meersbrook BC in the final and managed six winners to their opponents' four.

This secured a comfortable 33-point victory, with single-figure successes by Chris Mordue, Steve Powell and Jon Edmondson proving decisive.

  • Pudsey Littlemoor A clinched the Derek Radley Trophy with a 44-point victory over Sandal at Almondbury Liberal Club.
Littlemoor made an excellent start as Arthur Roundhill (21-9) and Bob Scott (21-5) starred in the first four.

They never looked back from there, with Kath Bywell (21-8) and Paul Farquharson (21-9) ensuring the win was comfortable.

  • Ken and William Gilroy won the Charity Pairs competition at Peel Park, which helped raise funds for the Martin House Hospice.
The Gilroys beat Peter Ellis and Tim Gilroy in the final and have helped boost the coffers by about £400. Thanks to all who participated as well as helpers.
  • Eccleshill B were thwarted by Castleford club Green in the final of the Eric Hutchinson Trophy and they must now concentrate on winning promotion to the Naylor Premier League.
The Bradford outfit were always playing catch-up, finding themselves trailing by 11 points after four jacks and then 22 after eight, and were finally beaten 225-199.
  • The finals of the Yorkshire Crown Green Cockcroft Handicap will take place on Sunday at Pudsey Bowling Club, with a 1.30pm start.
Paul Bowes (Pudsey Littlemoor) and Tony Riley (Brighouse Sports) are Bradford's qualifiers, with over half the final 16 from the Huddersfield area.
  • The Bradford Winter League, which will take place on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, starts at Salts on October 2 and 4 and runs until early March next year.
There will be one league on Mondays and two separate leagues on Wednesdays. Teams comprise of four players and further teams can still be accommodated up to Saturday.
