Ilkley’s Josh White annihilated the opposition in rounds three and four of the British Formula Kart Stars (FKS) series at Three Sisters in Wigan.
He took maximum points to move into the lead in the battle to become the 2011 MiniMax FKS champion.
Josh leads the same class for 11-16 year-olds in the British Super One Rotax series.
The 14-year-old took pole position in qualifying for the third FKS round, his best effort a 40.77 second lap, which put him 0.21 seconds up on his closest rival.
Josh then maximised on that in the two heats and led both from start to finish, before ending the day with victory in the final of the Lewis Hamilton and Bernie Ecclestone Formula One Management-backed series.
“In qualifying I put together a really good lap and both heats also went well,” said Josh.
“In one of them I was able to pull a six-second gap on second place, which really shows what our pace was like.
“In the final, I didn’t get the best of starts. The engine started spluttering and I dropped back to second.
“I had to fight from there and we were always switching positions. I just managed to defend for a few laps though and then pulled out a bit of a gap when they were all battling behind me. I had to work for the victory in the final a lot more than in the previous two races but that just made winning all the sweeter.”
Two more wins in the heats on Sunday, and two fastest laps in the process, were rounded off by a win in the round four final and a perfect 400-point haul from the weekend.
“In the final we started from pole and just led it from there,” said Josh. “I was getting pushed a bit by my team-mate, Harry Campey, but with two minutes to go it was red flagged and so the race was cut short.
“Overall it was a great weekend. We took maximum points from it and it puts us in a really good position for the FKS championship.”
Josh is back in action this weekend when he heads to Rowrah in Cumbria for the prestigious four-day stand-alone ABkC 2011 ‘O’ Plate meeting.
