Twelve members of Bradford Esprit Diving Club took part in the G Star Competition at Leeds Aquatic Centre.

The team, who train with Bradford Aquatics Diving Training Scheme, which is part of Bradford Council, ranged in age from nine to 15, and Sam Thornton won the boys’ 14-15 years’ Group B platform preliminary.

After the first round, only 4.8 points separated the top ten and, after leading all the way, Sam eventually finished second 3.15 points behind Southampton Diving Academy’s Alistair Khakoo. However, Sam made up for it in the boys’ Group B three-metre event, where he led the preliminary event by a whopping 36.5 points.

Other outstanding performances came from Michael Jones, who made the finals in the boys A+ platform event and took silver.
