WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 6lb 4oz blue trout by Derek Smith using cormorant. Fewston & Swinsty: Wind from the north-east never makes for easy fishing but lures fished slow and deep captured some good fish. As the breeze changed and things warmed up, Hawthorne fly became abundant – and trout love Hawthorne fly! Thruscross: Fish are feeding from the top of the water as water temperatures rise, with dry hopper and spider patterns. Catch details (week ending May 8) – Day ticket: Fewston 26, Swinsty 8, Thruscross (catch & return) 1; total fish caught: Fewston 125, Swinsty 29, Thruscross 3; average per rod: Fewston 4.8, Swinsty 3.6, Thruscross 3.0.
