Bradford swimmer Sian Morgan continued to be as good as gold in the pool as she won two races at the Welsh Swimming Championships.
The 16-year-old claimed first place in the 400m and 800m freestyle, while also winning silver at 100m and 200m in the same category.
These results add to her growing CV, as she became the first ever City of Bradford swimmer to take part in the Commonwealth Games, where she was a semi-finalist in the 100m butterfly in Delhi last year, while she was also the youngest ever swimmer on the Welsh swimming team when she received her first call-up.
The Ilkley teenager’s success at the Welsh Championships has now put her in line to be selected for the Welsh team at the Youth Commonwealth Games on the Isle of Man in September, with the final team set to be confirmed at the end of May.
Morgan’s performances at the National Championships last weekend have also resulted in her selection for Wales in the Celtic Tri-Nations Championship against Scotland and Ireland, which will be held in Swansea next month.
The Bradford Grammar School pupil, who is coached by Andy Pearce of Bradford Aquatics Competition Programme, became one of the first recipients of a grant from Bradford Council and the charity SportsAid when she was given £1000 to assist her preparations for the 2012 Olympics, which now look a step closer after this latest triumph.
