BRADFORD No1 AA: The first members’ match of the year was last weekend at Raskelf Lake. It was won by Graham Jackson with 39lb 13oz of F1s. Second was Fred Prudham with 20lb and join-third were Stuart Hemingway and James Vickerman with 18lb 8oz. The next members’ match is to be held at Rawcliffe Bridge on the Aire & Calder Canal on Sunday, May 22. Tickets are still available for this match from Simon Foster on 01274-571175 and from Tackle 2U in Bradford. Members are reminded that when visiting any of the club’s waters, fishing or not, they should be in possession of their yearbook. Chellow Dene continues to fish well for roach and skimmers from all around the lake.
BRADFORD PALS AC: The calm conditions and hot, sunny weather were certainly not good for our Sunday bream match at Southfield and although we all got a good tan, the fishing was extremely hard. The result of the match was: 1 Paul Chadwick 8lb 11oz, 2 Steve Charger 6lb 3oz, 3 Bernard Hook 5lb 13oz, 4 Dave Riley 5lb 10oz. Our next match is on Sunday, May 15 at Lindholme Lakes (Loco Lake). Remember that you must use Lindholme feed pellets, which can be purchased from the tackle shop on site. The cafe opens at 7am and the draw will be at 9am. WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 4lb 6oz rainbow trout by B Whitehead using Dawson’s Olive. Fewston & Swinsty: With the hot spell upon us, fish are moving early morning and evenings. Nymphs and lures are catching good-quality trout. Thruscross: Wild browns are feeding in the margins on small spider patterns. Catch details (week ending April 17) – Day ticket: Fewston 35, Swinsty 16, Thruscross (catch & return) 2; total fish caught: Fewston 201, Swinsty 49, Thruscross 8; average per rod: Fewston 5.7, Swinsty 3.0, Thruscross 4.0.
SALTAIRE AA: Members are reminded that night fishing is not allowed on any of our waters. Some good trout are being caught near the weirs on the river. The only permitted baits on the rivers are fly, spinners, artificial lures and minnows until mid-July. Some good fish are being caught at Tong Park when conditions are right and the fish are interested in your bait.
BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC: Our trip to Whitby this Sunday has a couple of places left. This is an offshore trip aboard Richard Ward’s ‘Shy Torque 2000’. Anyone wishing to go, including non-members, should call Brian on 07901-717615 to book a place. Also note that anyone who has not paid their subs must do so before they can book on any trips.
Bingley AC: Result of Sunday’s match on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal: 1 D Foffit (Idle/Thackley) 4lb 11oz, 2 R Thornton (Idle/Thackley) 2lb 12oz, 3 J Clark (Bingley) 2lb 8oz, 4 D Wood (Bingley) 1lb 14oz. The next match will be at Coppice Pond on June 22. Settler Dam will be closed on Easter Monday for weed clearing.
LISTERHILLS AA: The draw for Saturday’s open match on the canal at Rodley is at 9am by the bridge. Tickets cost £12 all in. There are reports of a carp of 16lb being caught by a young angler, on a spinner, which may have been foul hooked. Anyone who can clarify this report should contact a club official.
Great Horton AC: Result for Willows Goldrush Pool on April 10: 1 R Sutcliffe 22lb 9oz, 2 P Savage 20lb 9½oz, 3 T Cahill 18lb 9oz, 4 P Corfield 17lb 13oz. The next meeting is at Great Horton Cricket Club on Thursday, April 28 at 7.30pm.
