WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught during the week was a 12lb 9oz rainbow trout by Victor Pratt using green/orange fritz. Thruscross: Fish moving in shallow water are harvesting terrestrial fly life blown across the water. Catch details (week ending April 10) – Day ticket: Fewston 42, Swinsty 13, Thruscross (catch & return) 1; total fish caught: Fewston 302, Swinsty 53, Thruscross 6; average per rod: Fewston 7.2, Swinsty 4.1, Thruscross 6.0.
BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC: Our next trip is to Whitby on Sunday, April 24. This is an offshore trip aboard Richard Ward’s ‘Shy Torque 2000’. Anyone wishing to go should come to our meeting on Tuesday at the New Inn, East Bierley (8pm). New members will be made welcome. Alternatively call Brian on 07901-717615 to book a place. After this meeting, if there are still places left it will be open to non-members. Anyone who has not paid their subs must do so before they can book on any trips.
BRADFORD No1 AA: Raskelf Lake will be closed this Sunday for a members’ match. Knotford Lagoon is fishing well for carp, bream and tench. Chellow Dene is worth a visit this weekend for tench, bream and roach. The top pond at Shelf has been netted during a working party last weekend, so this lake is not worth fishing. Members are reminded about rule 43, which states that juniors must be accompanied by an adult when fishing Shelf Dam due to safety reasons.
HEWENDEN AC: Sunday’s match produced an excellent turn-out but fishing was hard. The winner was Lee Simpson with 5lb 1½oz, second place went to Ian Fieldhouse (5lb) and third was Rob Judson (3lb 5oz). A reminder to all members that your Hewenden memberships are due at the end of the month. Anyone wishing to become a member should send details to S Webster, PO Box 62, Bingley, BD16 3WR. Enclose a stamped, addressed envelope and they will contact you in due course.
SALTAIRE AA: On warm days some anglers are catching good carp, perch and the trout stocked a month ago. New chain, eyebolts and locks have had to be fitted to the gate and the combination changed. Please take your used line, litter and bait containers home with you, including any you see near your peg.
LISTERHILLS AA: The first of this year’s Saturday open matches at Rodley is on April 23. During the school holidays members are asked to keep an eye on youngsters near our waters.
GRATTAN AC: There is a knock-up match on Brafferton Ghost Lake on Saturday, April 23. Make sure you book on no later than Tuesday by calling or texting Bob on 07827-967711.
BINGLEY AC: The draw for Sunday’s match on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal will be at 9am at Morton Lane road bridge. To book on call Tony Greenwood on 07971-428678.
