SALTAIRE AA: It is with sadness that we report the death of Michael Troman, the president of our association, at the age of 88. For at least 60 years he was a stalwart of the club, having held most offices. He was general secretary and match secretary, running team coaches to away matches – including to national championships – and more recently ticket and licence secretary. He is survived by his wife Joyce. Sunday’s river match result: 1 Pete Vickerman (two chub) 8lb 4oz, 2 Barrie Murgatroyd (two grayling) 3lb. Sunday’s canal match result: 1 George Colbran 5lb 2½oz, 2 Kirk Grainger 3lb 2oz. The next canal match is on Sunday. To book on, call Richard on 07815-092966. A pike match is planned for Saturday, February 5.
BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC: Our trip to Whitby on Sunday had to be cancelled because of the bad weather. Any monies owed will be repaid at our next general meeting, which will be on Tuesday, February 15 at the New Inn, East Bierley (8pm). New members will be made most welcome. Our next trip is an inshore trip to Whitby aboard ‘Shy-torque’ on Sunday, February 20. Anyone wishing to go should call Brian on 07901-717615 to book a place. Don’t forget that subs are now due. They are still at £10 for the year. Trophies should be returned so we can get them ready for engraving ahead of the presentation evening in March.
LISTERHILLS AA: The next members’ match is at Pilley’s Dam on Sunday, February 6. Any anglers interested in fishing this year’s National Championship, which is on the Basingstoke Canal, should contact the match secretary on 07984-597328. There are unconfirmed reports of two big pike being caught recently at Pilley’s Dam, the heaviest being over 20lb. We request further information on these catches. Also, a reminder that entries for the specimen fish trophy must be witnessed and submitted in writing.
BRADFORD No 1 AA: Most still waters are now unfrozen and rivers are starting to drop, so most waters will be fishable this weekend. The River Calder is fishing well for chub at Gravel Pits, Lillands and Cooper Bridge. Cowthorpe on the River Nidd is also worth a visit for chub on float and maggot or bread methods. Chellow Dene is also fishing well for the chub and bream that were stocked this winter and the bigger bream on red maggot. Widdington Hall is shut on Saturday for a match.
HEWENDEN AC: The Hewenden Christmas pike match will be held on Sunday. As usual, all members are welcome. It costs £10 all in on the day, with a 9am draw in the car park. The lake has now fully defrosted and good pike and bags of roach are starting to show.
UNITY AA: Club yearbooks for 2011 are now available from Tackle 2U Bradford and Boroughbridge Angling. The yearly subscription remains the same as 2010. Head bailiff is R Malone, new bailiff H Gardecki.
BINGLEY AC: The next match will be held on the River Aire on Sunday, February 6. Contact Tony Greenwood to book on.
IDLE & THACKLEY AA: There is an open match on the River Swale at Swainby this Sunday. For bookings call 01274-615016.
