Silsden’s Dougie Lampkin is revving up for his Gas Gas debut at Eddy’s Xtreme Enduro at Tong near Leeds on Sunday.
The event will be ideal preparation for the 12-times world trials before he competes in the second round of the FIM Indoor Enduro World Championship in Barcelona on Sunday, February 6.
That will effectively be a home event for the Gas Gas factory team, who Lampkin signed for at the beginning of the year.
Lampkin admits his move to a two-stroke bike has taken a bit of getting used to.
“It’s certainly been a whole new learning curve, as up until now I have only ever ridden four-stroke enduro bikes,” he said.
“The Gas Gas is lighter and more easy to flick about, which should be great for the extreme and indoor events.
“The biggest difference is the lack of rear braking for the higher-speed corners, so I have had to learn to use the back brake which felt quite strange at first.”
