Last season’s Bradford League Division Two champions Laisterdyke A are making a huge effort in their battle against relegation from the top flight.
They gave their survival hopes a boost with a superb victory at Highdale, which moved them above Embassy A and out of the relegation places.
Once again their No 1 Mann Younis gave an inspired lead, dropping only one game as he overcame Graham Manicom, Phil Mann and Maric Ryecroft. Faz Hussain added a brace and Peter Holbrook a single in a 7-3 success.
In the last 16 of the Theobould Trophy, there was a derby between Hermits G from Division Four and Hermits C from Division Three.
The G team had 72 points start but that did not look enough as Peter Worger and Kath Manogue pulled 38 points back in the first two sets with only two sets remaining.
The C team were only five points behind and strong favourites but John Margerison turned the match upside down by beating Worger 44-31, and in the final encounter Stuart Stead held firm against Manogue to put Hermits G through.
