The tie of the round in the Burton Cup quarter-finals was the all-Division One affair between holders Police and unbeaten Dewsbury Sedbergh.

The match was also a repeat of last year’s final, which the Police won 5-0, so Sedbergh had a score to settle.

The omens looked good for Sedbergh when John Stones overcame James Brown in the opening set, and Mark Land and Ian Lewis maintained the momentum with two wins each to complete a 5-0 whitewash.

In the Bradford Table Tennis League, Hermits D maintained their promotion push in Division Four with victory against Hermits G.

The match was evenly balanced at 3-3, with John Margerison taking two for the G team but Hermits D finished the stronger with Roger Swithenbank unbeaten. Glen Ellis won two and Joe Healey added a single in a 7-3 success.

In the Yorkshire League, Paul McKrieth has played 60 times for Bradford as a right-handed attacker but wrist problems have forced him to play left-handed and he made his debut with his other hand for Bradford-4 against Ryedale in Division Three, winning all three in a 9-1 victory.
