Bradford No 1 face a tough return to action in the YORKSHIRE INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE this weekend.

The Division One leaders travel the short distance to take on defending champions Leeds at the Northern Snooker Centre on Saturday (7.30pm).

Bradford No 2 host Sheffield No 3 in Division Two at Manningham Ward on Sunday, also at 7.30pm.

In billiards, Richard Lodge’s third-placed Bradford No 2 side are scheduled for a bye this weekend.

The Bradford No 1 side have unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the competition due to a serious fixture backlog and lack of players.

* Second-leg matches take place tomorrow night in the HEY’S TROPHY team snooker competition with the following fixtures: Wibsey Libs A v West Bradford Bowling Club, Buttershaw Lane WMC v Upper Bolton Cons A, Queensbury Cons A v Wibsey WMC, Windhill Cons v East Ward, Harold Club A v Manningham Ward, Clayton Rugby A v West Bowling Social, Upper Bolton Cons B v Clayton Rugby B, Eccleshill WMC B v Queensbury Cons B, Northcote Cons v Low Moor Club, Lifeline Leisure v Harold Club B, Tong Libs A v Little Horton Unity, Birkenshaw Libs B v Birkenshaw Libs A, QTips Shipley v Wibsey Libs B, Laisterdyke Cricket Club v East Bowling Unity, Great Horton Cons v Eccleshill Victoria Cons, Laisterdyke WMC A v Salthorn WMC A.

Would all winning captains please ensure the results sheets are sent to Eddie Ratcliffe by Monday.

Dates for the following rounds have yet to be decided due to the possibility of clashes with local league competitions.

But it is hoped the next round will start before the end of January, as will the commencement of the E Rosse Hopkinson Plate tournament.

* The deadline is fast approaching for entries into the YORKSHIRE SNOOKER CHAMPIONHIPS and forms can be obtained from Richard Bakes (07940-651850).

The entry fee is £15 and players have an option to play in qualifiers on either Sunday, February 27 or Sunday, March 13.

Matches will be the best of seven frames and eight players on each date will qualify for the last 16.

This will then be redrawn and played down to the finalists on one date, as yet to be arranged with hosts and main sponsors the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

Entry forms must be received by the tournament director no later than January 31.

* Defending champions Kevin Firth and Dave Stirk are the first duo through to this season’s BRADFORD SNOOKER PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP quarter-finals.

The Undercliffe Cricket Club combination booked their place with a 3-1 victory against Simon Philips and Matthew Ramsden of Birkenshaw Liberals.
