City of Bradford Swimming Club’s tradition of fast swimming and festive fun continued when they held their 28th annual open meet at Shipley Pool.

The showcase event produced some fine swims from the home team, led by regional and county champion Myles Stirk.

Stirk produced gold medal-winning performances in the ten years 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and freestyle, along with 200m individual medley and 400m freestyle.

Sister Isobel also triumphed in the girls’ 14 years 50m and 100m freestyle.

County representative Ellie Talbot looked impressive in winning the 13 years 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke, 100m and 200m freestyle and 50m butterfly.

Eleven-year-old Abigail Shuttleworth clinched gold in the 100m and 200m butterfly and City’s disability swimmer Sarah Chown likewise in the 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.

Girls’ titles also went to Hannah-Louise Beaumont, in the 100m freestyle, Jovana Lugonja, 100m backstroke, and Jessica Foulds, 200m individual medley.

The boys’ events produced multiple wins for James Lund in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle.

Matthew Brown looked impressive in winning the 13 years 50m and 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

The breaststroke events were dominated by 17-year-old David Brown and 14-year-old Joshua Walker, who had clean sweeps in their age groups in the 50m, 100m and 200m events.

Sam O’Donohoe claimed the 16 years freestyle and backstroke and titles also went to Gianni Vienza, James Towler and Luke Constantine. They also claimed silver and bronze medals.
