BINGLEY AC: The match on the River Aire fished harder than expected due to the grey colour of the water caused by the snow melt and salt. Winner B Leonard had five grayling for 3lb 6oz. Second was N Chuck with 1lb 8oz and third was I Ward with 1lb 6oz. Despite the recent cold weather, a number of our river stretches have been fishing very well of late. Grayling have been responding well in the Myrtle Park length, with one member catching a dozen or so grayling in a session and another catching a good bagful as well. This shows that grayling are indeed present in that stretch in numbers. Barbel have also been stocked in this length again this year, with another 500 going in at the park last Friday. We have now acquired a new stretch of river on the River Nidd at Cattal. There will be a working party on Wednesday, December 29 at our new stretch of the River Nidd at Cattal. Any members available to help should contact Paul Kitching on 07767-495046.
SALTAIRE AA: The thaw did not arrive early enough to clear the surface of ice for last Sunday’s canal match. Result: 1 Paul White 2lb 8oz, 2 Stuart Campbell 2lb 7oz, 3 Nathan Kelly 1lb 4oz. River match result: 1 Kevin Blyth 5lb 8oz (one chub, five grayling), 2 Carl Chadwick 5lb (two chub), 3 Steve Parker 3lb 1oz (one barbel, one grayling). There are two matches on the canal planned this weekend. Tomorrow there is a pike match. This will be an any ‘legal’ method match (deadbaiting, flies, lures, spinners, artificial or natural baits. If livebaiting you will first have to catch your livebait in the canal) with rules specific to the pike match. There is also planned to be a canal match on Sunday. Call Richard on 07815-092966 for details and to book on. The next river match is planned for Sunday, December 26. Call Barrie on 07917-828826 to book on.
