Robert Hitchen (Halifax) and Gerwyn Davies (Wrexham) were the qualifiers in week two of the Brighouse CLASSIC, sponsored by Naylor Wintersgill (Chartered Accountants).

Hitchen came through by defeating Danny Sillitoe (Dearne Sports) 21-14, Tony Roberts (Wrexham) 21-12 and Kevin Nixon (Doncaster) 21-20.

Davies emerged from tough games with wins against John Hambleton (Stockport) 21-20, Mick Robinson (Morton House) 21-19 and James Hanson (Pudsey) 21-12.

Chris Ward (Staffordshire) and Gary Ellis (Whitefield) were the latest qualifiers in this year’s COORS PUDSEY CLASSIC.

Ward defeated Dave McGourty (Whitkirk) 21-6, John Hambleton (Stockport) 21-4 and Danny Beeby (Longwood) 21-16 to qualify in style.

Ellis was as impressive in beating Dave Fisher (Morton House) 21-8, Mel Hobson (Sheffield) 21-15 and Richard Lawrence (Rawdon) 21-14.

The action continues tomorrow night, with many local bowlers in action.

Bradford suffered a heavy 41-15 defeat to West Riding in their final YORKSHIRE VETERANS INTER-DISTRICT LEAGUE match.

In the home match at Pudsey Littlemoor, Bradford carded just two winners as they went down to an embarrassing 22-6 loss.

In the away match at Thornhill BC, Bradford went down 19-9, again with only two winners, with David Burns’ 21-4 the saving grace.
