An initiative devised by Salts Tennis Club coach Richard Senior proved to be a great success as over 30 juniors from across the area took part in the Bradford Parks Junior Tennis Slam at Northcliffe Park, Shipley.
The event was a round-robin format, which allows for a number of matches, which is what the day was all about.
“The tournament was a great opportunity for young people to experience competitive tennis in a fun environment,” said Senior.
“It is an event for experienced match players to try new shots under less pressure and new players to enjoy the tournament atmosphere.”
The events held were 14 and under boys’ singles, 18 and under boys’ singles and 18 and under girls’ singles. Winners and runners-up were as follows: (left to right in picture) 18 and Under Boys Elliot Clough (Titus Salt School), James Bryson (Titus Salt School), 18 and Under Girls Blessings Nare (Salts School), Rachael Moore (Shipley College); 14 and Under Boys Adam Qurban (Beckfoot School), Adam Aslam (Bradford Grammar School).
