City of Bradford Swimming Club held their annual end of season A/B graded meet over two days, when swimmers from as far a field as Leicester, Stockton and Stockport converged on Shipley Pool to test their racing skills.
With a bumper entry, competition was fierce but City’s swimmers outclassed their rivals in many of the events and came away with a host of gold medals and speeding tickets.
The boys’ A Grade events saw Joshua Zenner and Sam O’Donohoe top of the table with five gold medals each.
They were closely followed by James Blaby with three, Joshua Walker and Jamie and David Brown with two and James Lund, Myles Stirk and Matthew Brown with one gold to their credit.
Not to be outclassed, the girls’ A grade gold medal tally was led by Isabel Stirk and Joanna Gledhill, with four golds, Chelsie Reardon, Hannah Beaumont and Ellie Talbot, with three, Ebony Hirstle, two, and Abigail Shuttleworth, Isobel Mawson, Imogen Talbot, Megan Lee, Nicole Fordham and Lucy Burnside with one. The B grade events saw Luke Strauss lead the charge with three gold medals and close behind were Eleanor Coones, Isobel Mawson, Dale Brundle, Gianni Vienza, and Samuel Gautry with two.
Last but by no means least were Natasha Wilson, Abigail Shuttleworth, Amelia Foulds, Lucy Ward, Laura Hartley, Hollie Evans, Laura Mitchell, Michaela Dalton, Ebony Hirstle, Imogen Talbot, Aidan Sheldan, Jordan Tate, Fergus Walden and Chris Killock, with one gold medal to their credit.
Speeding tickets are awarded to swimmers who exceed the entry cut-off time for their grade and the following were awarded tickets on the day: Ellie Talbot (2), Sian Morgan (1), Luke Constantine (2), Myles Stirk (8), Joshua Zenner (2), and Sam O’Donohoe (2).
Sarah Chown, City’s disability swimmer, had an excellent weekend, winning golds in the 50m freestyle and the 50m and 100m breaststroke to add to her ever-growing collection.
