LISTERHILLS AA: Strong gusting winds and rain made fishing difficult in the open match at Rodley and some competitors suffered damaged tackle. Result: 1 W Barker 1lb 9oz, 2 R Thornton 1lb 4oz, 3 E Harrison 1lb 1½oz. Result of Tuesday evening match (July 13): 1 E Harrison, 2 D Jackson. Among the best recent witnessed catches are D Collins (23lb carp) and a mixed catch of 25lb 14oz by E Harrison, which contained tench and bream to over 4½lb each. From the canal, G Kitchen had a 15lb net of roach and skimmers. From this week, the cost of the annual junior membership has been reduced to £3 and some junior events will be held during the school holidays. There is a members’ match at Pilley’s Dam on Sunday, August 1.
BRADFORD No1 AA: Last weekend’s junior match at Willow Hall was won by Connor Mahoney with 8lb. Other results: 2 Josh Freer 3lb, 3 Hayden Rushworth 2lb 12oz. The under-11s was won by Liam Jones (2lb 7oz), with Morgan Freer (2lb 1oz) second. The junior aggregate weight was won by Mahoney with 17lb 8oz. Result of committee match at Nun Munkton: 1 S Foster 5lb 3oz, 2 I Bradley 4lb 3oz, 3 H M Foster 3lb. Sunday sees the start of this year’s Calder League. Teams should meet at the Black Bull in Brighouse at 9am. Barbel up to 12lb are being caught from Thornton Bridge. Knotford Lagoon is fishing well for bream up to 9lb in the evening.
WASHBURN VALLEY: The heaviest fish caught during the week was 4lb by N Smith using Montana nymph. Washburn Valley: With showers and occasional heavy rain, reservoirs are now filling up with water. Due to fresh water fish now moving about, buzzers and nymphs are catching good trout. Thruscross: Wild browns are taking small imitation flies (black spider). Catch details (week ending July 18) – Day ticket: Fewston 28, Swinsty 10, Thruscross (catch and return) 3; total fish caught: Fewston 109, Swinsty 41, Thruscross 13; average per rod: Fewston 4.0, Swinsty 4.1, Thruscross 4.3.
SALTAIRE AA: The next canal match is on Sunday, August 1. To book on call Richard on 07815-092966. There have been several good catches of perch, roach and smaller carp at Tong Park Dam. Four anglers caught in excess of 12 fish each in three-hour sessions on Tuesday. The lock was recently attacked with glue but has been replaced. The code is unchanged and is available on the website and by phone from the general secretary. Contact details are in your yearbook. BINGLEY AC: T Greenwood won last Sunday’s match at Sunnydale with an all-roach catch of 9lb 5oz (we think they may have been attracted to the smell of his jacket!). In second place was P Kitching with three bream for a total of 9lb 3oz. Results: 1 T Greenwood 9lb 5oz, 2 P Kitching 9lb 3oz, 3 I Needs 4lb 8oz. Would members planning to fish Larkfield tarn this weekend note that the model boat club are holding their annual open weekend and activities may encroach over angling at times.
