ROSIE HELLIWELL has earned a place on the Yorkshire Under-13s reserve list following a superb run in the County Cross Country Championships last weekend.

The 12-year-old Keighley & Craven Athlete (above) finished 10th in the Under-13 race after a strong run. She will be in action again this weekend when the Soreen Stanbury Splash takes centre stage at Penistone Hill Country Park, near Haworth.

Rosie is holder of the Under-10 and Under-12 records and could set another new mark at Under-12 level.

Fellow K&C athlete Adam McLean was seventh in the Under-17 boys race at the cross country championships and won a place in the Yorkshire team for the County Championships to be held in March.

Keighly & Craven's women's team were fourth in the team event with Amy Green (17th), Liz Tomes and Eliza Wofenden top three counters.

Bingley Harriers won the women's team event.

Young Cowling athlete Billy Pinder helped the Skipton AC Under-134 boys team to a bronze medal and Luke Maude from Bradley was a member of the Under-15 team from the Skipton club that also won a bronze medal.

Matthew Watson from Bingley Harriers was fourth in the senior men's event and was just beaten for a place on the podium in a race won by Mark Buckingham of Holmfirth.

n Ian Holmes will be out to hold on to his record of wins in Soreen Stanbury Splash on Sunday, having won the race since it started in 1996 The senior race starts at 11.30 with junior races for Under 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s starting at 10.30am. Each junior runner will have a mini malt loaf in their goody bag and senior runners will all take home a malt loaf as part of their prize.
