Pudsey B are making a late run for promotion in Division Four of the Bradford Table Tennis League, with three teams in contention for the runners-up spot behind champions elect Unity D.

Pudsey made it three wins in a row with a 6-4 victory over Rastrick thanks to a treble from Jon Ainley, two from Maurice Wrigley and a single from Linda Sanderson. They are now five points behind Fastbats F and 12 behind Hermits D but they have a game in hand.

Embassy C dealt a blow to the title hopes of Fastbats D in Division Three and nearly became the first team to beat them this season.

Craig Knowles took his tally to 56 wins from 57 for Fastbats but second in the averages Tony Hutton had an off night, winning just one. Neil Foley and Derek Briggs both won two for Embassy while Clive Sherratt added a single as Embassy led 5-3 but Fastbats took the last two for a share of the spoils.

Their main rivals for the title, Fastbats C, were 8-2 winners at Highdale D to move eight points clear and on course for the championship.

In Division Five, promotion rivals Hermits H and Hermits G were involved in a see-saw battle, with six of the ten sets needing a deciding game. John Rawnsley with three and John Margerison with two steered the G team to victory by winning the doubles 11-7 in the fifth game but the H team are favourites to land second place as they lead by ten points with two games left.
