There were some outstanding performances in the second of this year’s series of Rising Stars meets at Shipley Pool.

Local clubs competed against each other for top honours and Bradford youngsters achieved numerous wins.

The seven/eight-year-olds competed over 25 metres and Olivia Lee (Dolphins) clinched victories in the backstroke and butterfly, with Ruth Hollis (Bingley SC) also doubling up in the breaststroke and freestyle.

In the equivalent boys events, wins went to George Acton (Dolphins) in the butterfly and freestyle, Nathan Strauss (City of Bradford) in the backstroke and Alexander Devanny (Bradford SC) in the breaststroke.

Dominic Bland (Dolphins) produced a clean sweep in the nine-year-old boys’ events and clubmate Grace Acton won the equivalent girls’ backstroke and freestyle.

Bingley took the remaining two events, with Olivia Horsfield winning the breaststroke and Neve Godfrey-Clarke the butterfly.

Ten-year-old Emma Blaby (City) powered to victory in three age group events but was denied a clean sweep by Natasha Wilson, who claimed gold in the breaststroke.

The ten-years-and-above age groups included an individual medley event and Tobi Adeniji (Dolphins) led the charge.

He won the ten-year-old boys’ event and also headed the back and free, with team-mate Matthew Griffiths taking the breaststroke.

Like Strauss (City) demonstrated consistent form to win four of the 11-year-old boys’ events but William Broadbent (Bingley) took the backstroke to prevent a clean sweep.

Jovana Lugonja (Bradford SS) starred in the girls’ 11-year-old group as she won the butterfly, freestyle and medley events.

Ellie Coones (City) took the backstroke and Hollie Evans (Bingley) the breaststroke Aidan Sheldon (City) confidently won the breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and medley in the 12/13-year-old age group.

Luke Habergam (Dolphins) took the freestyle and Ben Higgins (Bradford SC) the backstroke.

Laura Mitchell (Bradford SC) hit the medal trail in the girls’ backstroke and freestyle.

Clubmates Katie Burnside and Abigail Devanny claimed the butterfly and medley events respectively Grace Hobson (Dolphins) took the breaststroke.
