SALTAIRE AA

Anglers are reminded that it is the close season for river fishing. However, as the trout season starts next Thursday, from that date anglers may fish for trout on the rivers using worm, minnow, artificial fly or lure.

Anglers must not use maggots as a bait on the rivers until June 16. Environment Agency bailiffs are particularly active at this time of year. Fishing without a licence means you are liable to have your fishing tackle confiscated and a fine of up to £2,500.

Environment Agency rod licences for 2010 expire on March 31 but 2011 rod licences are already on sale from post offices, online or by telephone on 0844-8005386 (08.30am-8pm daily) but 2011 licences are not valid for fishing before April 1.

The lock code for Tong Park is unchanged but will change after we have stocked with trout. The code is available online to registered users and by phone from the general secretary on 01274-214441 or see the notice on the gate.

The next match is on the canal on Sunday, March 28. To book, contact Richard on 07815-092966.
