Unity veteran Neil Harris continued his strong doubles partnership with Chris Bartram of Kent by clinching the over-40s title at the Northern Masters in Blackpool.

The fourth-seeded pair, who have done well together for the last two seasons, beat Cheshire duo Malcolm McEvoy and Phil Luxom in four games in the semi-finals.

They then took on the Yorkshire pairing of Chris Clinton and Sean Madden and, after losing the first game, Harris and Bartram took the next three to take the title.

Steve Kosmowsky of Dewsbury Tog had a great run in the over-60s singles event after top two seeds John Hilton and Brian Hill withdrew due to injury to leave the event wide open.

Kosmowsky came from 8-5 down in the fifth game to beat John Williamson of Durham in the first round.

He then had straight-games victories over Barry Crook (Lancashire) and fourth seed Derek Holman (Surrey) to reach the semi-finals.

Kosmowsky took the first two games against Leicester’s Maurice Newman, who had toppled national champion Paul Collins in the last eight, and led in games three, four and five but could not finish his opponent off.
