James Dawson was in confident mood at the Yorkshire Age Group Swimming Championships at Leeds and Sheffield.

The 14-year-old from Embsay came home with no less than four gold medals from the 100 mres and 200m breaststroke and the 200m and 400m individual medley events.

Not content with gold medals, he continued his rich vein of form to place second in the 100m and 200m backstroke and third in the 100m and 200m butterfly. He rounded off the sessions with final placings in the 100m and 200m freestyle.

Twelve-year-old Ellie Talbot clinched golds in the 100m and 200m backstroke and was in the final of the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medleys.

James Lund demonstrated superb pacing to claim the gold medal in the boys' ten years 200m breaststroke and showed his versatility by claiming final placings in the 200m and 400m medley events, 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Junior Development squad member Azura Cairns-Poole claimed silver in the ten years' 200m butterfly and then went on to win bronze in the 400m individual medley.

Silver medals also went to Hannah Beaumont in the 11 years 400m individual medley and Josh Zenner in the 14 years 200m indivial medley Beaumont also collected four further final finishes, and Zenner finished with seven final placings to his credit.

Jessica Foulds hit the medal-winning trail in the 13 years 400m individual medley with a bronze medal and had four other final placings.

Other finalists were Megan Lee, Mille Foulds, Isobel Mawson, Isobel and Myles Stirk, Joshua Walker and James Blaby.

The Championship series continues this weekend at the John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds with the sprint and teams events.
