Bradford Dragons cruised to a comfortable 90-72 home win over Derby Trailblazers to stay top of EBL Division Three North and remain on course for promotion.
Putting aside the disappointment of last week’s defeat in the National Shield final in Manchester, Dragons started slowly but edged to an 18-16 first-quarter lead.
Urged on by a noisy home crowd, Dragons increased the defensive pressure on the visitors and cut loose in offence, with Sean James on his way to a game-high haul of 35 points.
The 48-28 half-time lead became 68-45 at the end of the third quarter before the Dragons eased off in the final quarter to win 90-72.
Vance Silcott scored 18 points and Aaron Kaye hit ten.
The Dragons’ next home game is on Saturday, March 13 against derby rivals Bradford Maroons – the final game of the regular season.
In five years of intense local rivalry, the Dragons have never beaten Maroons on their home court.
Elsewhere for Dragons, the under-14s won at Oldham Titans 89-61.
