Danny Parkinson aims to dazzle in front of the TV cameras at Huddersfield on Friday.

The Bradford fighter features on the Sky show’s undercard – and is ready to step up a couple of gears.

Parkinson faces a decent test with a ten stone match-up against Bolton’s Jon ‘Rocco’ Hussey, who has won 13 of his 15 professional outings.

The 29-year-old said: “He is a big, tall kid, over six foot, and I’ve been working on a different technique and style.

“I’m not really a stand-off fighter any more. I’ve changed things a little bit so I’m not likely to get caught.

“I’ve won 13 out of 17 so we’re pretty well matched. I’m trying to get more fights in now and I’ll give it everything I’ve got.

“There are plenty of up-and-coming stars on the bill so hopefully, if it’s a good fight and I can knock him out, then it will get on TV.”

Parkinson, who is being backed by Cactus Joes in Halifax, has been sparring with John Fewkes and Ross Burkinshaw. He admits he has got an appetite for the game again.

He said: “If I win this then I want to be looking at one of the smaller titles. Something like the British Masters or Central Area would be good to aim for.

“I’m not sure I could go any further but there’s always hope. I’ve been training twice a day for this and fighting regularly again makes you want it more.”

Dewsbury’s Gary Sykes heads the bill at the Huddersfield Leisure Centre when he bids for the vacant British super-feather title.

Parkinson’s younger brother Sam, 27, will be in the ring on the same night. The light-heavyweight is in amateur action in Meanwood.
