Billy Harding was crowned British champion when he won the under-14 category at the National Cyclo-Cross Championships in Birmingham.
The Paul Milnes RT-Bradford Olympic rider showed great tactical maturity as he and two other competitors pulled away from national series winner Harvey Lowe on the first lap.
Harding was 11 seconds up on James Shaw, the eventual runner-up, by the end of the second lap and increased his advantage to 21 seconds by the end of the final circuit.
The multiple British Schools Cycling Association champion had previously finished second in the national cyclo-cross series.
