Division Two of the Bradford Table Tennis League is proving to be unpredictable this season, making it an extremely competitive section.
Highdale C have only one win to their credit so far and that was against Fastbats B, who are the only team to have beaten the leaders Unity B.
Highdale emerged victorious in their clash with fellow relegation candidates Hermits A following a disciplined team effort. Gary Foster, Dave Broadley and Geoff Barnes all won two each as Highdale won 6-4 to move out of the relegation places.
The two teams at the top of Division Three, Fastbats C and D, are well clear of the rest of the section and they cancelled each out for the second time this season.
The C team are in pole position but they had to come from behind to maintain their ten-point lead. Craig Knowles lost his only set of the season in the corresponding fixture in September but he was in great form in this match taking all his singles in straight games. Tony Hutton won two and the D team led 5-3 but the match finished level once again when Helen Shields and Keith Smith beat Knowles and Hutton in the doubles.
In Division Four, Kath Manogue was the toast of Hermits D as they enjoyed a nerve-wracking victory at home to Drummonds.
The visitors led 4-3 as Malcolm Fowler and Stewart Varley won two each but Manogue secured her third singles in set eight with an 11-7 final-game victory over Fowler and, with Peter Worger and Tim Moran adding one each, Hermits led for the first time at 5-4. Manogue and Moran then clinched victory in the doubles at 13-11 in the fifth game.
