Bradford driver Tim Sugden ended his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia season with a win and a second place in the two races at the weekend but this was not quite enough to take a second Championship as he lost out to Germany’s Christian Menzel by just one point.
A gracious Sugden said after the final meeting of the year at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia: “I’m sick to lose the championship by one point but it wasn’t lost in Malaysia. Christian deserves the title – over the season, he did a better job.”
In the three years he has taken part in the highly competitive Asian series Sugden has finished first, third and second in the end-of-season tables and this year has only been off the podium once at the Singapore GP meeting.
