The climax of a series of training sessions for swimmers from clubs in the Bradford area culminated in the Summer Medley Final Meet.
In the girls’ nine/ten age group, the honours were shared between Abigail Shuttleworth of Bradford SC – who won the butterfly and freestyle events – and Isabel Mawson of Bingley SC – who picked up gold medals in the backstroke and breaststroke.
Bradford Dolphin’s Phoebe Action powered to victory in the girls’ 11 years freestyle and backstroke but City of Bradford’s Chloe Whitlock outclassed her in the butterfly event and Bingley’s Rachel Lamond in the breaststroke.
Lucy Rhodes (Bradford SC) looked impressive in winning the girls’ 12 years backstroke and freestyle.
City of Bradford’s Laura Mitchell won the butterfly and Dolphin’s Leah Chitson the breaststroke.
Ten-year-old William Broadbent, of Bingley, dominated the boys’ nine/ten-year events, with a clean sweep of victories.
Aiden Sheldon (Bingley) led the charge in the boys’ 11/12 years age group with wins in the freestyle and breaststroke, with Ben Higgins of Bradford SC taking the backstroke and Jonathan Wright of Dolphins the butterfly.
Swimmers also competed in an individual medley event to assess their overall improvement. The top girl award was made to Megan Anderton of Bradford SC and the top boy award went to Sam Rochio, also of Bradford SC.
