The two Highdale teams in Bradford Table Tennis League Division One have visions of league and cup success this season, and the club have added a continental touch to boost their chances.
Phil Mann, who plays for the A team, has business interests in transport and his connections have brought him into contact with two Polish players who were looking for a club.
Martin Chlebus and Lucas Delegac have both played to a high standard in Poland and Highdale have signed them both.
The duo have not played regularly for the last year but Highdale secretary Graham Manicom is delighted with them both.
Delegac showed his talent when he dropped only one game in beating Steve Wathey, Steve Kosmowsky and Bill Grant as he helped Highdale B overcome Dewsbury Sedbergh A 6-4.
The Unity Hard Bat Competition proved a great success with over 22 entries and Pudsey’s Simon Noutch adapted extremely well to playing with the old-fashioned equipment for the first time to take the singles title.
He defeated Neil Harris, Sandra Rider and Ian Gomersall on his way to the final, while Kosmowksy came through the other half with wins over Doug Bartle, Tony Bottomley and Manicom.
