Right on Cue
There has been an early upset in the BRADFORD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS, with Bradford No 2 player Gareth Green being knocked out of the singles 4-2 by Undercliffe Cricket Club’s Anthony Herdsman.
This is a fantastic result for Herdsman against an up-and-coming young star, who will get better with experience.
Herdsman is joined in the last 16 by Mick Bedford, who won an all Manningham Ward contest 4-1 against 2003 champion Wahid Khan, while the battle of Laisterdyke WMC was won by Dean Parker, who beat doubles partner Paul Wood 4-3.
Lewis Walsh (Windhill Cons) beat Andy Briggs (Shipley Club) 4-1, Richard Hagerty (Calverley Cons) ground out a 4-3 victory over Paul Jackson (Denholme Cons) and 2004 champion Howard Mawson cruised through with a 4-0 win against Cue Gardens clubmate David Tolson.
In the pairs competition there were 3-0 victories for Tolson and his son Chris against S King and J Broscombe (Tong Libs), Ilyas Khan and Shafiq Bashir (Cuedos) against J and M Buchan (Windhill Cons) and Wahid Khan and Tanveer Mohammed (Manningham Ward) over Undercliffe Cricket Club duo Herdsman and Anthony Ward.
