Girl power was much in evidence at the City of Bradford Under-11 Sportshall Athletics Championships at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre.
Boys came out on top by comparison in five events but girls held sway in six, proving that there is very little between the sexes at this age group.
Olivia Dovernor (target throw, with eight), Tassy Heslop (high stepper, 15.08), Riana Elsey and Rebekah Tiler (vertical jump, 54 each), Ashton Greenwood (speed bounce, 58 in 20 seconds) and Emma Kerrigan (standing long jump, 1.98m) were the girls who bettered the boy winners.
Meanwhile, Stacey Rooke’s 30 on the balance test was the equal of boys’ winners William Giles, Kieran Ellison, Louis Wilkinson and Samual Abedin.
Boys who won their events and bettered the equivalent girls’ winners were Alex Henny (two-lap race, 27.03sec), Giles (one-lap over and under, 19.86sec), Tobi Adeniji (standing triple jump, 6m), Alex Pryce (chest push, seven) and Akin Pryce (soft javelin, 20m).
