Fastbats G, who are marooned at the foot of Division Five with only 11 points, were finally rewarded for their perseverance when they celebrated their first Bradford League win of the season after nine successive defeats.
The team would not have been confident of success at home to Baildon C as they had lost 10-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and another defeat loomed large as Baildon swept into a 3-1 lead through Rod Willey and Ken Fletcher.
But the Fastbats trio stuck to their task, with Andrew Grayson and Nicola Harrison both winning two and James Brass adding one before combining with Grayson to take the doubles as they ended their losing streak 6-4.
Meanwhile, Unity are hosting a charity hard-bat competition at their club on Monday, starting at 7.15pm.
The event is a fundraising evening on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society as one of their members, Craig Priestley, is to embark on a charity walk in China next spring taking in part of the Great Wall of China.
The entry fee is £5 and anyone wishing to enter should contact Richard Priestley on 01274-416451 by Sunday.
