Bradford Dragons beat local rivals Huddersfield Heat 93-64 at home to gain their ninth victory in a row and go joint second in EBL Division Three (North).

Dragons finished the first quarter 28-19 ahead and ran away with the game in the second quarter as their full-court press forced repeated turnovers by the Heat to give Bradford a commanding 56-30 lead at half-time.

With coach Chris Mellor running his bench players for extended minutes, Dragons boosted their lead to 77-46 at the end of the third quarter before maintaining their advantage in the final period.

Dragons chairman Stuart Culliford said: "We wanted to win this game against the Heat as we were scored nil and four against them over the last two seasons.

"Losing to them in the last game of the season for the last two years cost us a play-off place on both occasions so we wanted this game."

Top scorers for Dragons were Istvan Dohar (14), Daumants Pabrieza (14) and Eddie Davis (12).

Dragons play Liverpool on Saturday (6.15pm) at Belle Vue Girls School's Zara Sports Centre, before travelling to Worcester a day later for the National Shield semi final.
