The last weekend of competition before the Christmas break saw City of Bradford's swimmers test the waters of the new 50m pool at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds.

Teams from Loughborough University, Nova Centurion, Bolton Metro and Warrington Warriors were among those competing in the Leeds Christmas Cracker meet.

The strong oppostion meant star swimmer Sian Morgan was the only Bradford club member among the medals.

She rose to the occasion in the girls' 13 years 200m butterfly to land gold in a time of 2min 24.46sec and claimed silver in the 100m freestyle and backstroke.

Twelve-year-old James Dawson of Skipton had an excellent weekend and showed his versatility by finishing in fourth place in the 100m backstroke and 200m butterfly. He also came fifth in the 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley.

Rapidly improving Sam O'Donohoe made his mark with a fourth place finish in the boys' 13 years 200m freestyle, sixth place in the 200m backstroke and eighth places in the 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle.

Ilkley's Ben Balmforth, still recovering from injury, was pleased with his fifth place finish in the boys' 14 years 100m butterfly. Fellow Bradford Grammar School pupil David Brown claimed two final placings in his specialist breaststroke events.

Thirteen year-old Isaac Ehdieb made the finals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle.
