City of Bradford member Chris Brown helped Yorkshire to a narrow victory in the regional round of the National Inter-County Masters at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Yorkshire scored 207 points to Cheshire's 205, followed by Northumberland and Durham (125) and Lancashire (120).

In the national event, Yorkshire finished runners-up to Warwickshire, which was an improvement on last year's fourth place.

Great Britain record-holder Brown, who trains with Bradford Council's Sport and Leisure Service Training Scheme, competed in the 50 metres backstroke, clocking 31.22sec, and also in three relay events.

Halifax's Bill Moore broke the Great Britain record for 50m breaststroke in the 70-74 years age group in 39.15sec.
