TYERSAL AC

The Eccleshill Angling Supplies Evening League was a close affair, with only one decent fish separating the top four weights.

The high-number pegs are definitely the place to draw, peg 17 again showing that no matter how it is fished it still produces fish.

Result: 1 S Hargreaves 19lb 8oz (peg 21); 2 D Bauga 18lb 15oz (peg 17); 3 N Martin 17lb 8oz (peg 8); 4 S Hawkins 16lb 14oz (peg 2). Standings (with two matches remaining): 1 Hargreaves 54pts; 2 R Keay 52; 3 Hawkins 43; 4 Martin 42; 5 L Helliwell 38; 6 Bauga 37.

The match at Risby on the tench lake was won by venue regular Lee Helliwell, who ignored the name of the lake and fished for carp.

Result: 1 L Helliwell 68lb 6oz; 2 M Herrington 66lb 12oz; 3 A Humphries 42lb; 4 R Keay 34lb.

The club's next match is at Risby on the carp lake.

WASHBURN VALLEY

The heaviest fish caught this week was by J Harper using viva. The heaviest fish caught this month was by Nic Smith, also using viva. Fewston: fishing well, wets and lures, fish feeding just under the surface as humid conditions start flies hatching. Fewston has fished consistently all month. Small lures, wet fly and buzzers all taking good rainbow and blue trout. Swinsty: Fishing inconsistent - fish rising early evening taking buzzers, cooler mornings sending fish deep. Now that the weather has settled, fish have been feeding deep so lures have had some success. Thruscross: Excellent sport, with fish rising to fly when the sun comes out afternoon and early evening. Black pennel and bibio. Changeable weather has deterred anglers. When we get a good day the sport from wild brownies has been great.
