Tim Sugden had to settle for sixth place after two lengthy pit stops delayed his progress in the 24-hour race at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.
The Bradford racer, who was the Scuderia Ecosse Ferrari F430 team's extra driver, took the first 75-minute stint at the wheel after regular lead driver Andrew Kirkaldy qualified the car in eighth place.
Chris Niarchos later spun the car and damaged the rear, which cost seven laps, but Sugden and Kirkaldy lifted the team to fourth before a gearbox problem required a further stop and cost more valuable time.
Sugden said: "I really enjoyed racing with the Scuderia Ecosse team. I couldn't believe it when we had the problem with the gearbox at such a late stage of the race. I had just been thinking how well we were doing."
