Steve Pickersgill and Kevin Gilroy both produced 21-8 cards for Armley Cons as they went down 16-14 at Queensbury B in the Riley League.

The hosts were helped by a 21-0 walkover as Armley could only manage nine players.

Leaders Brackenhill A beat Drighlington B 23-7, with Andy Morton (21-8) the pick of nine home winners.

Peel B remain rooted to the bottom of the table after losing 24-6 at Wibsey B. Alf Mudd (21-4), Barbara Bairstow (21-5) and Fred Haylock (21-8) starred for the home side.

Suzie Jagger and Alan Potter both won 21-8 for struggling Cleckheaton Sports at Armley Cons, while Kevin Gilroy (21-4) and Malcolm Brown (21-7) ensured a comfortable 21-9 home win for Armley.

Dave Hill (21-7) and Brenda Chaffer (21-8) helped Horsforth Woodside B to a 24-6 win over Queensbury B.

Birkenshaw slipped to third place after losing 18-12 at home to West Royd, despite a great 21-5 from Eddie Mordue and a 21-8 from Malcolm Ellis. Linda Crawford (21-8) and Eddie Stead (21-7) ensured a good away victory for West Royd.

West Bradford A moved into second place with an 18-12 home success over Shelf A, despite a great 21-5 from Kevin Longbottom for the visitors.

Bailiff Bridge and Asa Briggs C shared the points in the Field Packaging League. Dale Dyson for Bailiff Bridge and Christine Wilkinson for Asa exchanged 21-10 victories.

Lister B carded nine home winners as they thrashed Bowling B 27-3, thanks to Teresa McEvoy (21-5) and Derek Thirkill (21-9). Ken Bairstow and Cyril Simpson both won 21-5, as Tyersal B beat Peel C 21-9.

Knowles B remain in second place after beating Queensbury C 22-8, thanks to Keith Nicholls (21-7), Paul Kitson (21-8) and Steve McLoughlin (21-9).

Pat Cates' 21-6 got Horton B off to a flyer at Oakenshaw B but George Drake (21-7) and Harry Brooks (21-8) responded as Oakenshaw edged home 16-14.

Seven home winners helped Guiseley B to a 20-10 home victory over Crowghyll B,who move above their opponents into third place.

Guiseley C were 23-7 victors over bottom club Bowling C in the Mellor League, thanks to a great 21-6 from Anita Kingham.

Shipley Club got the better of Horton C with a 19-11 victory, thanks to Arthur Spivey (21-4), Maureen Crossley (21-7) and Margaret Yeadon (21-8).

John Exley (21-7), Jordan Brown (21-7), Daryl Fieldhouse (21-8) and James Klenk (21-9) helped Wibsey C to a 22-8 win over Brackenhill B. Ladyhill B were 21-9 winners at second-placed Shelf B, thanks to Eddie Greenwood (21-2) and Peter Peacock (21-3). Douglas Haigh replied with a great 21-7 for the hosts.

Bradford Moor B moved above West Bradford B with an impressive 24-6 victory. John Mawson (21-7), John Waite (21-9) and Margaret Sugden (21-9) were the pick of eight home winners.

  • The Bradford qualifiers for the Yorkshire Crown Green Junior Merit are Pudsey duo James Hanson and Thomas Morris. The finals will be held at Halifax BC, on Sunday, July 15.
  • Heckmondwike are hosting the Tetley Triples on Sunday, July 15, limited to the first 32 triples. Entry fee is 9 per triple, and it starts at 9.3am.
