Teenager Zeeshan Khan aims to add his name to the Karmand club roll of honour on Saturday when he competes in the final of the national novice championships.
The Barkerend-based club, which produced former British and Commonwealth lightweight champion Bobby Vanzie, have high hopes for the 15-year-old.
He fights Durham-based Peter Cope in the final at Knottingley Leisure Centre.
Khan beat Harringay youngster Ramsay Rubiko 19-7 in the four-round semi-final of the 54-kilo competition at Bethnal Green.
It was the first defeat for Rubiko, who had previously won nine out of nine bouts.
Khan, whose record is nine wins from 11, almost finished the bout sooner when he had his opponent on a standing eight-count in the second round.
Karmand coach Dave Cariss is confident that Khan can beat Cope, who fights for the Gus Robinson Amateur Boxing Club.
"They say that Cope's a good boxer but mine's good too.
"I think Zeeshan has fought some better lads but you never can tell until you get in the ring.
"Zeeshan is one of the best Asian lads we've had for a long time. We are hoping he might box for England."
