SOUTH Leeds Cons maintained their 100 per cent record in the Bradford Saturday League with a 19-11 win over Harold Park in the fourth-tier Bartle section, helped by Derek McCormack's 21-6, Philip Walker replying with a 21-7 for the visitors.
Crowghyll A had a great 28-2 win over Armley Cons, Trevor Hodgson 21-2, Dennis Thorpe 21-5, David Hodgson 21-7 and Tony Walton 21-7 being the pick of nine home winners. John Gilroy was the sole victor for the visitors but his impressive 21-4 ensured his team left with some points.
Wibsey's green is in poor condition this year but it did not stop them carding a 26-4 triumph over Pudsey C, helped by wins from Curtis Brown 21-0, John Stevenson 21-3, Mick Frost 21-7 and Jamie Wilczynski 21-8.
Seven home successes for Tyersal A ensured a 24-6 victory over West Bradford A, with John Smith 21-1, Pam Lindley 21-5, Lynn Noonan 21-7 and Jamie Lindley 21-8 all starring.
Janice Waite 21-2, Cath New 21-4 and Bill Slater 21-4 helped Rufford B to a 22-8 verdict over Hollies S&SC.
Royd House produced the away performance of the day with a 25-5 win at struggling Oakenshaw A in the fifth-tier Haigh division, led by Andrew Matthews 21-5, Paul Fisher 21-8, Thomas Johnson 21-8 and Paul Barker 21-9.
Guiseley B also had a good away day, winning 22-8 against Bradford Moor A with wins from Ralph Sissons 21-7, Bob Jeffreys 21-8 and Martin Laycock 21-9, although Alan Naylor replied for the hosts with a 21-9.
Eccleshill C have not started the season too well and it did not get any better as they went down 20-10 at home to Cleckheaton Sports A, with Alan Potter's 21-6 the pick of seven away winners.
Brackenhill defeated Stanningley A 18-12, helped by wins from Andrew Mackrill 21-5, David Watson 21-8 and Graham Wilkinson 21-9. Paul Kitson produced a great 21-7 for Birkenshaw but they could only manage a 15-15 draw at home to Hove Edge B.
Akroydon Victoria B carded an impressive 26-4 Riley league win over Bailiff Bridge A, with Bailey Dawson 21-3 and Simon McGorlick 21-8 starring.
James Crosland and John Stancliffe both scored 21-6 victories as Horsforth Woodside B beat Bowling A 22-8, while Cleckheaton Moorend defeated Greengates B thanks to Shirley Clegg 21-4, Ann Fisher 21-5 and Margaret Grogan 21-6.
Rufford C edged home 18-12 against Hove Edge C, with Eileen Beck's 21-6 the pick of six home winners, as Richard Hopley replied with a 21-9 for the visitors.
Martin Sherred and Ian Swinfield both scored 21-5 wins for Salts but it was not enough for a victory as six away winners gave Asa Briggs C a share of the points.
Shelf, with a few winter recruits, look to be stronger this season and made it two wins from two with a 22-8 home triumph over Crowghyll B in the Field Packaging section, with Peter Barstow – who should surely be playing at a higher level – yet again the stand-out performer for Shelf with a 21-3.
Norman Lickley's 21-6 away win for Guiseley C was in vain as Gordon Winter 21-5, Eddie Pells 21-6 and Geoff Woodfine 21-8 helped Horton secure a 20-10 victory.
Farsley look a better team than this division and it showed as they carded a 21-9 win at West Bradford, Terry Lilley producing stunning 21-2 ably assisted by Graham Petty 21-5 and Stuart Brook 21-6, although Sheila Edden showed some resistance with a 21-7.
West Royd edged home 18-12 at Queensbury B in low-scoring game which had eight single-figure winners – Irene Bulman 21-1, Michael Clare 21-3 and Graham Pearson 21-7 for the hosts plus Linda Crawford 21-6, Richard Tatum 21-6, Colin Pontefract 21-8, Peter Ingham 21-9 and Pauline Eccleshall 21-9 for the visitors.
Lou Dunk and Leigh Stephenson both scored 21-6 winning cards for Cleckheaton Sports B but James Wriggles 21-5 and Glyn Hopper 21-6 edged the aggregate for Hipperholme & Lightcliffe B in a 16-14 away win.
Bradford Moor B maintained their winning start to the season with a 17-11 victory at Bowling B in the Mellor division, the evergreen Ken Smith starring with a 21-6 assisted by Marjorie Leeming 21-7 and Malcolm Leeming 21-9, Roy Schofield replying with a 21-7.
John Taylor's 21-4 success helped Bailiff Bridge B beat Shipley Club C 18-10, while Richard Stewart 21-0 and Kenneth Watson 21-6 led Oakenshaw B to a 16-12 win at Queensbury C.
Stanningley B edged home 15-13 against Tyersal B, thanks to Robin Miller 21-3 and Leslie Leak 21-7. Young guns Mason Lindley 21-6 and Oliver Mordue 21-7 replied for Tyersal.
