Division Two leaders Unity B went out of the Bower Cup at the first round stage against Baildon from Division Three.
Unity were a good outside bet in the Summer League handicap competition but found the task of giving Baildon a 162-point start just too much with Baildon having 24 points to spare. In round two Baildon again come up against Division Two opposition with a trip to Hermits G.
The all-Division One tie between Yeadon Celtic B and Unity A provided a nail-biting finish.
After the six singles, Unity had a ten-point lead with the three doubles to play but Ian Marshall of Yeadon looked to have turned the match in their favour when he partnered Paul Stephenson and Peter Clarkson to take the first two doubles by 19 points and with that a nine-point lead with just one doubles match left.
But Unity, through Ian Gomersal and Richard Priestley, won the decider by 11 points to squeeze home by two points.
Results - Division Two: Unity B 5, Keighley Ukrainians 5.
Bower Trophy: Yeadon B 323, Unity A 325; Unity B 374, Baildon (162) 398.
