Bingley Harrier Alistair Brownlee was part of a clean sweep by Britain's top triathletes against a world-class field of 62 in Scotland.
The Horsforth youngster finished third in the Corus Elite Series at Strathclyde Country Park, near Motherwell.
World and European under-23 champion Will Clarke took the top podium place in the men's elite race, with England team-mate Stuart Hayes second and Brownlee third after a sprint finish.
Scot Blair Cartmell, who was celebrating his birthday, emerged first from the swim before Hayes made a break from the large pack on the bikes and went into the run with a 25-second lead.
But Cambridge's Clarke and world junior champion Brownlee caught up and Clarke edged a sprint finish between the trio, beating Londoner Hayes by five metres.
Rising star Holly Avil claimed victory in the women's elite race.
The event also gave both triathletes National Sprint Championship titles.
Northampton's Avil was in the lead pack for the entire race and she sprinted away from Swede Lisa Norden and third-placed Scot Kirsty McWilliam.
