Greg Hull shattered the Jack Bloor Memorial race record by more than a minute.
Conditions were perfect for the 22nd running of the race, sponsored by The Complete Runner of Leeds Road, Ilkley.
The moor was completely dry underfoot, with the heather fires of 2006 creating fast route options not previously considered.
Hull, the previous record holder when he was just a boy (he is now a veteran over 40), won the senior race in a sprint finish, one second ahead of his Leeds City team-mate Chris Birchall. Last year's winner Karl Gray, of Calder Valley, was third.
Hull was also the first over 40 vet, with the first over 50 prize going to Malcolm Pickering of Ilkley Harriers.
The team competition was won by Leeds City, with Ilkley Harriers second and Pudsey & Bramley third.
The ladies race was won by last year's winner Jo Buckley, making it three wins in a row, with Alison Weston second and Sarah Haines third, both of Ilkley Harriers.
The Mike Rose Bowl for the first over 40 lady vet went to Alison Weston.
A total of 111 runners contested the junior races over classes from six to 16. The highlight of these races was the finish of the boys' 14-16 event, where Tom Sessford, Duncan Birtwhistle and Alex Sinclair were locked in a tremendous tussle coming down the hill to a terrific sprint finish, with only two seconds separating all three runners.
