Femi Fehintola is aiming to hot-foot it straight from Bradford to Las Vegas.

The British featherweight title challenger is gearing up for his first professional outing in his home city.

Fehintola appears in a six-rounder on the May 27 show at the Bradford Hilton, which is headed by Nadeem Siddique.

Back from an ankle injury, Fehintola returns to the ring for the first time since November's painful loss to domestic champion Carl Johanneson at Barnsley.

And he knows a cracking comeback could earn him another chance in America on next month's mouth-watering Ricky Hatton and Jose Luis Castillo bill.

"Nobody's mentioned anything to me but I know I'm booked on the flight to Las Vegas," said Fehintola. "I'm hoping to be on that show if I look good in Bradford."

Fehintola has heeded the advice of promoter Dennis Hobson and beefed up since the Johanneson setback.

Regular sessions with Bulls conditioning coach Nigel Hamshaw at the Planet Fitness Gym and a strict diet regime drawn up by Ricky Hatton's fitness guru Kerry Kayes have made a significant difference.

Fehintola has also lined up some quality sparring in preparation. After a recent session with Bernard Dunne in Dublin, he will work with former domestic champion Andy Morris next week.

"I've been getting up at 6am, running, going on the weights at 10am and then boxing in the afternoon. That's all I've done since coming back from the injury.

"Nigel and Kerry have been really punishing me but you can see that it's paying off.

"I honestly feel the best I ever have done as a fighter; strength-wise, ability-wise and much stronger mentally. I am better than before the Johanneson fight.

"At that time I was living right but still mixing with people I shouldn't. It was my own fault.

"Now I'm moving into a new house in Sheffield to be nearer the gym, surrounding myself with professional people, and I feel like a different man. I've left that life behind and I'm not going to the old dives or getting involved with the negative rubbish that surrounded me.

"The Johanneson loss was a blessing in disguise. I came out with credit but knowing what I've got to do to get to where I believe I can go.

"Nobody has ever seen me box in Bradford and it's about time they did. And I can promise the fans that they will see the real me.

"I've had 15 pro fights but at last people can find out what I'm really made of. Now you will see the full package."

Tickets for the Hilton show are available on 07962-382334 or from the Planet Fitness Gym on Halifax Road.
