BRADFORD CITY AA

Fishing conditions this week have been fairly good. Dave Martin had another large trout of 4lb from the River Aire. However, the forecast is for rain tomorrow and further cool temperatures next week.

Meanwhile, problems have been reported at Chapman’s Pond in York. Although the Environment Agency have not yet confirmed the cause, the water has been closed as a precaution, as have a couple of nearby ponds.

WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY

Catch details for month ending May 31 – Day ticket: Fewston 141, Swinsty 14, Thruscross (catch & return) 4; total fish caught: Fewston 1,084, Swinsty 330lb, Thruscross 30; average per rod: Fewston 7.7, Swinsty 24lb, Thruscross 7.5. Heaviest fish caught was a 10lb 10oz rainbow trout by C Emmott using claret snatcher. Fewston: Very good fishing, the main fly of interest has been hawthorn or similar. Still waiting for the mayfly. Swinsty: Some nice bags of fish caught. Thruscross: Brown trout showing all day. Anglers put off by weather extremes.

LEEDS ASA

Our fishery on the River Ure at Middleham was stocked recently with 10,000 small grayling. Later in the year a further stocking will take place of larger fish. Result of match at Moor Monkton Pools: 1 S Pearson (Leeds) 99lb 14oz, 2 T Poole (Highfield) 87lb 12oz, 3 D Pollit (Willy Worms) 83lb 11oz. Result of the Tuesday match at Lapwing Lake at Kippax Park: 1 T Hewson (Leeds Angling Centre) 71lb 12oz, 2 T Rogers 49lb 15oz, 3 B Rymer 45lb 10oz. This fishery is to be stocked in the near future. A reminder that the gate at Knotford must be kept locked at all times.

LISTERHILLS AA

Result of Pilley's evening match held on Tuesday, June 2 (fished in strong, gusting winds): 1 S Conroy 8lb 6oz (two tench, one bream), 2 E Harrison 2lb 13oz. Result of Sunday's match: 1 J Greenwood 18lb 9oz (small perch and a common carp), 2 J Storey 6lb 2oz (two tench), 3 E Harrison 3lb 7oz (four tench), 4 S Conroy 3lb 2oz (one tench). Draw for Sunday's match at Coppice Pond 8am, call Tony on 07971-428678 to book a peg or for further information. This venue is closed on Sunday until after the match. Good catches have been reported from Coppice over the last week, which include a 16lb common carp by Jordan Webster.

BIERLEY AC

This Sunday there is a members' match on Whinnygill Reservoir, draw 8.15am, fishing 9am-noon. On Tuesday there will be an open match on the reservoir, draw 6.30pm, fishing 7pm-9.30pm.

HEWENDEN AC

On Sunday there is a coarse match. £12 for 9am draw in the car park. Will members note that the shallows does not re-open until Tuesday. Fish are falling to maggot and caster at long casts on the tip.
