NEXT week's Aegon Ilkley Trophy will include a current Grand Slam winner.

Croatian Ivan Dodig will arrive at Stourton Road fresh from lifting the men's doubles title in the French Open.

Third seeds Dodig and Marcelo Melo defeated two-time champions and top seeds Bob and Mike Bryan 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in the final.

This reversed the result of their 2013 men's doubles final at Wimbledon, which the American twins won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Dodig is ranked fourth in the world in men's doubles, but even his singles ranking of 119 means that he is the sixth highest-ranked player for next week's ATP Challenger, which boasts 42,500 euros in prize-money.

Above him are world No 85 Malek Jaziri (Tunisia), Dudi Sela (Israel), Blaz Rola (Slovenia), Kimmer Coppejans (Belgium) and Adrian Menendez-Maceiras (Spain), three of whom, along with Dodig, played in the main draw singles at Roland Garros.

No-one in the Ilkley field, however, did better in the 128-strong singles draw than seventh-ranked Andrey Kuznetsov (Russia), who reached the third round after victories over Jaziri and veteran Austrian Jurgen Melzer before bowing out 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to a certain Rafael Nadal.

However, entries at this time of year can be fairly fluid, and women's top seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia has pulled out.

Others to withdraw are Pauline Parmentier (world No 95), Stefanie Voegele (96) and Jana Cepelova (110) but despite the non-arrival of this trio plus the world No 50, who has reached five Grand Slam quarter-finals, still means that there are five players ranked in the top 100 for the $50,000 tournament.

Leading the way now is world No 83 Annika Beck from Germany, who reached the third round in Paris by beating 14th-seeded former Wimbledon champion Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and Paula Kania 6-2, 6-2 before bowing out to eventual quarter-finalist Elina Svitolina

6-3. 2-6, 6-4.

Romanian Andreea Mitu also boosted her world ranking by getting to the last 32 in the French, defeating 12th seed Karolina Pliskova and 2010 champion Francesca Schiavone on the way.

Three days of qualifying at Ilkley start on Saturday, with the first round commencing on Tuesday. The men's singles final is on Saturday, June 20 and the women's singles final is the following day.
