BRADFORD youngster Mia Lister scored the biggest victory of her fledgling martial arts career by winning the Unified International Tae Kwon-Do Federation British Championships in Coventry.
The 12-year-old TSX Tae Kwon-Do Schools of Excellence student, who lives in Swain House in Bradford and attends Hanson Academy, competed in the continuous sparring category.
Mia's instructor, David Fairley, said: "I am extremely proud of Mia and her achievement in what was her first ever British Championships. She began her training in February and is already showing exceptional promise and is one to watch in the future.
"She more than deserved her win. She has worked hard in class, attended every squad training session and, if she keeps going like this, she’ll go far."
TSX Tae Kwon-Do, which is based in Halifax, had other notable successes in other divisions, with girls’ team captain Molly Dodson winning bronze, Matt Storey silver and Jo Storey bronze.
“It was a fantastic day for Team TSX and the standard was very good," said Fairley.
